Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. - Mat 13:45-46

    Rainy days

Rain of God June 27, 2021

I’m sitting here wrapped in a blanket, next to a wide open window, listening to the rain. Listening to a life-giving flow softly hitting the window. Cool breeze on my face. Sweet fragrance of heaven. And the voice of God resounding in my heart. Tears in my eyes as I feel His touch. I have come to really enjoy these moments! I admit that I haven’t always loved the rain. But when God speaks to you through the rain you can’t help it, but fall in love. And so, rainy days have captured my heart.

I think God created these moments for refreshing in more ways than one. Yes, rain is a blessing upon the earth, its nourishment giving blooms and life to everything it touches. But. It’s also a reminder to me to stop and refresh myself as well. To bask in the glory of His presence. To be still. To let go of all that troubles and drink in refreshing water of the word. Let it cleanse and renew. Let it wash away the dust. Let the Word shower over my heart and flood my mind with promises anew. And as the earth receives the rain and is revived and blooms, so let my soul. Lord, may I be open to receive, may my heart drink from your fountain, may I hold on to every drop of wisdom, may I bloom.

Oh, that these gifts of God would penetrate our hearts! Oh! That we would only have the eyes to see how He speaks! That we would know how much He longs for us perceive His goodness. To notice His love, His provision.

Could it be that He sends rainy days and times to remind us to pull closer to Him? Maybe its His hearts cry toward us, saying “I have so much to share with you! Won’t you sit with Me awhile? I want to soak you with heaven’s beauty, shower you with blessings from above! Come, let Me touch you!”

Gentle rain. My mom calls these, “a million dollar rain!” I can see why. It comes so softly, it seems the earth can only open up and receive. And when the sun comes out, everything glows. It has the shimmery effect that only fresh waterfall can bring. You see, the touch of heaven upon the earth always leaves a lasting impression. An improvement. It gives grace to the receiver and favor rests there to bring forth blooms. Don’t we all need a touch from heaven? Don’t we thirst for more and long to be refreshed? Isn’t there a cry deep within us that calls out for the deep of God? If we’re honest, we will see where we stand and will pray, “Lord, I am in need of the rain! Send forth  healing rain of your Spirit over this dry and thirsty land!”

Next time you’re given the gift of a rainy day, remember Him who sent it your way. May the sound of it remind you of His voice. I pray that you will hear Him calling you, “Come away and be with  Me! Come away, my beloved!” As the raindrops hit your window, may they speak to you of the many blessings God pours out over your life. As you take in the fresh fragrance of heaven, I pray that you will know that the same fragrance surrounds you when you sit at the feet of Jesus. That you are the fragrance of heaven to the people around you. Today, I pray that you will let God touch you. I pray for you to fall in love with rainy days. For these are the days of opportunity, for falling in love with Him. And may you come to know how great His steadfast love is towards you. May the depths of it pierce your heart and cause you to encounter His faithfulness. To encounter Him in a brand new way. I pray upon you showers of blessings! Today and always, may He bless your heart to hear, to receive, and to greatly multiply in every good thing.

Hear the raindrops as they sing His song to you: I have chosen you. I have known you and loved you from the beginning of time. I am here! I am here for you. I have made this time for us. Will you come? Come be with me?
