But the LORD God called to Adam, and said to him, “Where are you?” Genesis‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This question was given to Adam after he had disobeyed God and had eaten of the tree which God had said not to. Adam along with his wife Eve, after having made fig leaf clothing, hid themselves in the garden. In the cool of the day, God comes and His voice is heard calling out: Where are you?

Where are you? This question from God hits home, doesn’t it? If God asks where are you, it’s not because He doesn’t know your whereabouts, but because you don’t know. He already knows the answer. When God asks us a question, it’s always for our benefit. To lead us into the truth and understanding. The enemy at first will come to distract and deceive us. As he did with Eve. After he has deceived us and made us question what God has said, only than he’ll make us believe that the sin is a good idea. By this point, you’re already down a road you were never meant to take. You are lost. You step into sin and its consequences. In the heat of the moment you don’t think twice about the choice you made, but in the cool of the day, here God comes with this question: Where are you?

See, we need this question. We need this reminder. Where are you? Where are you? It’s a simple question but it’s asked with purpose. Not spoken with condemnation, but rather is spoken in great love and compassion. It’s a Fathers call to make us lift our head and become aware of our surroundings. To become aware of our situation. Where the goal of the enemy is to make us unaware and therefore unable to see the danger, God comes and reveals truth. So lift up your head. Be aware. Turn your eyes on Jesus, because He is the author and the finisher of your faith. He is able to make all things work together for good to those who love Him. He seeks to bring you back to life! His question, if you take time to answer and listen, leads to blessing ahead.

Where are you? Have you felt God asking you this? As you hear His voice asking, He will also reveal what He sees. Are you lost? Are you in a place of doubt? Seek after Him and you will be led and guided into paths of truth. Are you in fear? Jesus is the good news filled with love, and His love drives out all fear. Are you in a place where you messed up? In a place of sin? Or do you find yourself having failed? You are not alone! Adam knowingly disobeyed, Paul killed Christians, Peter denied the Lord three times, Gideon constantly doubted, David fell and failed over and over, Jacob was a deceiver. The list goes on. Yet all of these men had something in common. No matter how many times they tripped or fell or messed up, the got back up again. They didn’t quit. Make the commitment to quickly come to God, and to keep trying and trusting. To learn! To consistently sow the word in your heart. David was called a man after Gods own heart because he was humble and easily convicted; he ran TO God not from Him. He also saw himself as a son, as much loved by God. This perspective makes a huge difference!

Search your heart and ask Abba Father to reveal to you the place you are in. Don’t be afraid of the answer. The first step to healing, to be found, to salvation, to grace and truth; the first step is to acknowledge and see where you are at. The second step is easy. It’s stepping into the arms of Jesus. Abiding in Him as He abides in you will always produce the fruit, the answer to whatever it is that you are in need of. And remember, God is for you not against you!

Oh, and this! The questions of the enemy will never lead to Jesus. The enemy’s questions always lead to a place of doubt, fear, insecurity. The questions that God asks will always lead to a place of faith and encountering Jesus. This is forever the Fathers will: to draw you closer to His heart. You know, at some point we have to be resolved as believers that we will live in absolute trust in the word of God. Fully embracing what the Word has said is like a hug, it blesses both participants, so too will you be blessed when you embrace Jesus. Are you willing to receive the embrace of grace and truth? Are you fully persuaded that every Word of God is unfailing? If we are persuaded of the truth it is much much easier to detect the lies of the enemy.

A great man of God once said: "Evil things only become appealing to a people who have forgotten who they are.” May you always see yourself as a son, as a daughter of God. You are His beloved child. He has a plan for you. He has a purpose for you! He who has begun a good work in you is fully able to complete it. May you believe that He finishes whatever work He has started in you. May the Spirit of the Lord come and be with you, help you and strengthen you. I believe that He is not done with you. Greater things are still to come!

I thank you Lord, for every story that you are writing. For every single person that has come into the family, remind them today Lord, you still have a story for them. A testimony. Renew in each one of us a renewed hope and purpose and we thank you that you equip us to will and to work for Your great purpose. We love you Lord! In Jesus name, amen.
